Metal Bombilla & Ceramic Calabash are both used to drink and make South American Yerba Mate tea. You will often find them used together for that very reason.
Metal Bombilla
A bombilla, bomba or massasa is a metal straw that is used used to drink Yerba Mate tea. In metal bombillas, the lower end is perforated and acts as a metal filter which is used to separate the mate infusion from leaves, stems, and other mate debris. It is, basically, a tea strainer. The name bombilla" comes from Spanish in which it means "little pump".
